For truly unique and beautiful wedding invitations, skip the computer altogether and hire a calligrapher to create your overlay. We put together gorgeous brown wedding invitations, perfect for a fall or Thanksgiving wedding, using the heavyweight Chocolate brown background card and white overlay fastened together with a shiny gold leaf brad for an amazing 58¢ each, including envelope, from Formal-Invitations.com. To create the overlay, our friend and accomplished calligraphic artist, Gerald Moscato, drew on the paper guides provided by Formal-Invitations.com and the guide was photocopied onto their overlay paper, then cut …easy!

Personal, Handwritten Invitations (the easy way)

September 11, 2008

Nina Callaway, the wedding editor from About.com wrote “10 Unique Ways to Personalize Your Wedding Invitations [one of the entries was] Your Handwriting Speaks Volumes: Instead of using a computer, hand write the text of your invite, then scan it at high resolution. Your wedding invitations will be personal, relaxed and welcoming.” We agree! If you have nice handwriting, know someone who does, or can hire a calligrapher…this is a great idea. To make it easy we provide a paper guide with non-repo blue lines (they will not copy onto your overlay) for you or a calligrapher to write directly on, …no need to scan, just photocopy the guide onto our standard 8.5×11 overlay paper. Shown is our friend, Jerry Moscato, owner of Calligraphic Variations for Your Wedding, and talented artist, designing an invitation using our paper guide.
